Life Off Game On!!!

Last night Matt and I went to our first Jazz game of the season. The pulled out an 120 - 94 win over the Sacramento Kings.
We had really good lower bowls seats and loved watching the Jazz have the lead until the Kings came back to tie the game at half. Then they came out to play the third quarter outscoring the Kings 44-17. What a game. Derron (my favorite player) had a fast break where he bounced the ball of the glass for a dunk by Brewer. It was sweet!! The Jazz were missing Boozer, Collins, and Knight last night that were all out do to injuries. I think now that my man, D Will is back that the Jazz have settled back down and are going to continue with a get season. we just need to keep everyone healthy.

GO JAZZ!!!

GO UTES!!

After hearing for days, weeks about the game it was finally here. It was time for the Holy War!!! I had dressed myself and Brooklin in RED and we were ready for the game. Matt was in his blue and his brothers Matthew and Jessie, and Matthews brother in law Ryan were also in blue. The numbers were against me. However I had faith in my Utes. It was game time and I cheered as loud as I could. Brooklin and my mom helped me with the cheering.
Then we watched as BYU quarterback Max Hall literally threw away a chance to earn a third consecutive Mountain West Conference championship.
Doomed by six turn-overs--- five interceptions and a fumble--- the cougars lost to my unbeaten Utes. The final score of 48-24 gave me bragging rights for the year!!
Now it's time to go bowling...........
Wether it be the Orange Bowl in Flordia, the Sugar Bowl in Louisanna, or Fiesta Bowl in Arizona, the Utes will receive an invitation to an elite group of postseason games called BCS bowls, and I want to go.It's to bad that the Utes are outsiders, with an undefeated season they should be playing for a national championship, but that's not how it work. they don't have the right zip code.

Am I a bad mom?

Ok so here's the deal, in the last month Brooklin has gotten hurt twice while I was "watching" her. I feel that I am a good mom and accidence are going to happen, however 2 in one week is that to many? here is what happened:
On Sunday the 2nd was sitting on my bed folding clothes and Brooklin was dancing and playing in front of the full length mirror that was behind the bedroom door that had broken a couple days ago that no one had taken out to the garbage yet. Well a longer piece of the mirror fell on her and cut her cheek. It wasn't to deep and stopped bleeding quickly. I was told that I need to watch her more carefully! What little girl doesn't want to dance in front of a mirror? How was I to know it was going to fall? I really didn't feel that I did anything wrong. Then on Tuesday we were watching Ratatouille and she climbed up onto the arm of the couch, I told her to get down or she would get hurt, she stepped onto the top of her Little Tike slide and it tipped over. She fell into the fireplace hitting her back on the slide and the side of her head on the fireplace. I sat there for a minute waiting to see her reaction. She started to cry so I went over and picked her up and then sat back down on the couch. I got her calmed down and then had her sit up so I could look at her head. When I pulled her away from me my shirt had blood all over it and so did the side of her head! Knowing that the head bleeds a lot I tried to stay calm. My dad was sitting in the chair next to us and I turned to him and said "help me", I stood up and went into the kitchen. My mom and dad helped my try to clean her up to see the cut. We decide that putting her in the bath was the best idea. After getting her in the bath we saw that the cut was only about a inch long, but looked pretty deep. It stopped bleeding so we thought that she wasn't going to need stitches. Later that night, Matt and Brooklin were playing and it started bleeding again. We decided to go to the hospital, she got 2 staples to help it heel. So my question is, Am I a bad mom? Could I have done something differently to prevent it? Accidents will happen right? or is there a way to prevent these accidents?

So my Mom's birthday is coming up on the 30th of this month, and we wanted to get her something that she would really enjoy. We decide that we would give her tickets to the Neil Diamond concert and pictures of her 3 grandkids. So this passed Monday Craig, Stacy, and i got together to take the "girls" pictures. What a mess!! When you are trying to take pictures of 3 kids under the age of 4 and get them all to look at the right camera; since we had 3 going at the same time, and smile. Then we add 3 adults to the pictures, any ways it was fun, here are some of the pictures we got!

Witch's Night Out

Last night I went to "Walk of the Witch's" at Gardner Village with all the girls on Matt's side of the family. This is the third year that I have gone with them. I enjoy traditions and this is one that I hope keeps going for years to come. Last night there were 21 of us that went and dressed in our best witch attire. Before going I was talking to Matt about the night and found that he thought that it was something that just the Kitt (Matt's step mom's maiden name) girls did every year. Ha ha! Can you imagine..... 21 grown women dressing up like witch's and walking around together just for the heck of it. I know that I am a little werid but that is even to werid for me! We had dinner at Archibald's, which was a 2 hour wait and then walked around to the different shops. Maybe next year I will take Brooklin. They had pony rides, a petting zoo, dancing, cackling contests, and everyone that wants to can walk across the stage they have set up for the walk of the witch's. All the shop's are decorated for Halloween and the staff is even dressed up. It's interesting to see how some people really get into it, I saw people dress as snow witches, the evil queen from Snow White, Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty, The Wicked Witch of the West from The Wizard of Oz, Glinda from the Wizard of Oz, and just some good looking witches.

Thought we would share some pictures from the wedding, enjoy!

Wedding pictures

If you want your dreams to come true getting married is a way to start. On June 13th, 2008 I made my best friend my life companion; we made our family legally a family! It was the day that every little girl dreams of and it was just as I had always wanted. I felt beautiful, the place was prefect, and all the people that where important to me where there to share my moment!! I want to thank everyone who helped Matt and I get to this point in our lives, for the love and support that helped us understand the importance of love and understanding. We are excited about the years to come and I couldn't be more excited about who I have picked to share them with.

Twin Bed

Last night we went and bought a twin size bed for Brooklin! My whole goal is to get her out of my bed and into her own. She has been sleeping in Matt and my bed since we moved into my parents’ house little over a year ago. I haven't and don't really mind it but it would be nice to more then half a pillow space to sleep in at night, I do enjoy cuddling with her however.
I just feel that it time for her to take that step and start sleeping in her own room, in her own bed. I took her shopping and let her pick out her own sheets and bed spread to make it more exciting and fun for her to sleep in the bed. I kind of have made it a big deal that she got this "big girl" bed, again trying to make her want to sleep in it. So last night was the test.
I gave Brooklin her bath, we got in jammies, and both of us got into her bed, and we started reading story. I thought for sure she would fall asleep because she hadn't had a nap and I knew she was tired, maybe too tired. She kept crawling under the sheet, jumping on the bed, and just not calming down. I start to get frustrated. Finally at MIDNIGHT (and I have to work on Saturdays) I gave up and told Matt that I was going to bed. I went into my room and crawled into my own bed. Next thing I knew here she came wanting to watch a DVD. Matt put in the DVD and the next thing I knew my alarm was going off to get up for work and Brooklin was asleep beside me. Oh, well I will try again tonight. I realize that it is going to take some time to get her to adjust; maybe if I start a little earlier trying it will work. I will be sure to keep everyone posted on the transition.

Tiny Tot Tumbling

Brooklin started her 8 week tumbling class yesterday. She will go every Monday night for an hour. She had so much fun that's all she is talking about. They made pizza to stretch out, learned to roll onto their backs, do forward summersaults, a wide leg jump, sit ups, back bends, and wheel barrows. There are 13 little 3-4 year old kids in her class. I'm hoping that she will make some new friends. This first week she was a little shy, and for those of you that know Brooklin that is really out of character for her, but I know that she will open up in the coming weeks. Matt and I both went to her first class but I think in the future I will be going by myself, which is what must parents did, but if decides to come great.I'm excited to see the developmental skills that she is going to learn and also for her to have more interaction with other children her age. The teacher had a great idea that when she needs to be disciplined to have her do sit up, I'm going to try it and see if that goes over better than time out. Also she suggested that when she is watching TV have her watch it upside down she it will help her with flexibility and strengthen her back. She said the best way to have her do that is by having her hang over the back of the coach, we might try that but I don't know.

My Dad has Parkinson, now what?!

Life is challenging as it is without the twists and turns that it tends to bring. We have been living our lives to the fullest, or at least I thought I was. About one week ago I got some news that will change my life forever.
I knew that my Dad was going to the doctor but I thought nothing of it until I heard more. He wasn't just going for a check up, he was going to a neurologist to have some test run to find out if he had Parkinson's Disease. I stayed positive and told him everything was going to be fine. I don't know if I was in denial or if I was truly hopeful. I called from work later that day and received the news that in fact he does. I stayed strong while talking to him over the phone. Deep down I was falling apart. I thought to myself, from this day forward I am literally watching my father die! I started searching the web to find out as much as I could about Parkinson and what I could do, watch for, and help.
Not a lot is known about the disease, med's can help a person live a full life after they find the right combination. However, they only give you one at a time for a month to see if it helps before trying another. As I have read and searched for information I have found more then I think I wanted to.
All the symptoms: hand trembling, shuffled walking, mumbled speech; these are all things that my father has. True he is in the beginning stages of the disease, however; no one knows how long we have. Like I said before with the right med's he can live for years. But you have to find the right combo before it's too late.
I feel that I have a lot of time left with my father, but who knows. It hurts to hear him say that the hardest part so far is the fact that he has to put the family through it. However, for me the hardest thing is know that he has this and no one can stop it!

Start Up!

Okay, so here we go. I'm new at this so it many take some time for me to create a good blog, but I want to get away from myspace.

Let me tell you a little about us. Matt and I dated 5 1/2 years before tying the Knot this passed June. Not a lot has changed in our lives since we've been married. We have our beautiful daughter Brookin that is the core to our lives. She is 3 yrs old now and we have enjoyed every minute of watching her grow. Currently we are living in my parents basement while we tried to save up to get back out on our own, that will hopefully be by the first of the year.
